ALZHEIMER’S PREVENTION

Prevention isn’t a pill, it’s a lifestyle rework

To Say Convenience Got us into this Mess is the Understatement
of the Year

Practically every one of today’s modern conveniences is contributing to the astronomical uptick in Alzheimer’s cases in developed countries. Below you will learn the different principles that our “Keeping Your Mind – the practical guide to preventing Alzheimer’s” community outreach program addresses.

poor oral health has been linked to Alzheimer’s Disease

skipping the dentist is too convenient

#1 PREVENTION: GOOD ORAL HEALTH

Outside of age, the greatest risk factor for developing AD is having Periodontal (Gum) Disease. Being proactive with your dental health means you will be able to potentially prevent the need for extractions and root canals – both of which increase your risk of allowing oral bacteria into your blood stream.

#2 PREVENTION: DIET

Studies that compare blue zones around the world show the longer/healthier lifespans these people experience is due in part to what they are using to fuel their bodies. This “Mediterranean Diet”1 is filled with non-processed, whole foods that excludes sugar, seed oils (olive oil is fine), foods high in Omega-3 (farm raised fish) and gluten.

Mind your Sleep

during sleep our brain cleans itself of left over proteins

WATCHING TV IN BED IS TOO convenient

#3 PREVENTION: SLEEP

During Stage 3 & 4, your brain actually clears debris (garbage) left over from the day (or days if you haven’t slept well).
This debris includes the proteins specific to Alzheimer’s and other dementias.  Staying up late, watching TV or viewing computer screens interrupts your sleep patterns.

#4 PREVENTION: EXERCISE

Routinely Exercising Helps You Sleep Better, Helps Maintain a Healthy Weight and Improves Lymphatic Clearance, making it a top Alzheimer’s Prevention Strategy – which makes sense…because when we exercise, we increase blood flow which in turn delivers oxygen and nutrients to the brain. So when you pep your step, or walk a mile, or take the stairs instead of the elevator, you are advantaging your body and your mind.

Woman and man exercising

Mind Your Movement

exercise causes the brain to create new brains cells to replace those lost to Alzheimer’s
